Oshkosh, WI (February 19, 2010) – ImproMed, Inc. is pleased to announce that Coverdale Veterinary Hospital, Ltd of Riverview, NB, has been chosen as the 2009 ImproMed Community Contributor of the Year Award recipient. Annually, ImproMed presents this award to a client that provides outstanding contributions to their local community.
The newly opened hospital was selected because of the write-up from Dr. Margaret Dunnett in which she wrote about the hospital’s commitment to community involvement and education as an integral part of the hospital’s vision. She recognized that to start a veterinary practice, there needed to be a pledge from the staff to promote the hospital as a warm and friendly place, and that’s just what they have accomplished through numerous community events.
Before opening their doors in October 2009, the staff hosted a local Teddy Bear clinic at the town’s picnic where kid’s could bring their favorite stuffed animal for a check-up and bandage.
They also hosted an open house for Animal Health Week with food, decorations, kid-friendly activities, and of course a tour of their new facility.
Other community events have included working at the local SPCA “Dog Jog” and the Greyhound Association’s Rescue Awareness BBQ, presentations for neighborhood Brownie and Girl Guide groups, and hosting the SPCA’s pictures with Santa.
“We have only been open a short time, but our community efforts give us a chance to give back, to educate and to become involved on a more personal level,” wrote Dr. Dunnett.
ImproMed is proud to acknowledge Coverdale Veterinary Hospital, Ltd for all of their outstanding achievements with the 5th Annual ImproMed Community Contributor of the Year award, and has awarded the clinic with an engraved glass plaque, an ImproMed gift card and an RmCards.com gift card.
Although not the top recipient in for the 2009 Community Contributor of the Year Award, ImproMed commends North Fork Veterinary Hospital in Timberville, VA, for its Honorable Mention. In 2009, the hospital donated money and time to their community, served on boards such as the Medical Reserve Corp, hosted a yard sale to benefit the SPCA, and traveled to work with endangered loggerhead sea turtles.
